East Lothian Housing Association is registered as a property factor with the Scottish Government, registration number PF000386.
We provide factoring services to around 70 properties including Shared Ownership units where we provide a service (including those which have 'staircased' up to fully owned), a small number in Tranent, a mixed tenure development, and in the LSVT stock in Whitecraig, where we are the majority owner.
On behalf of owners, we provide a comprehensive Factoring Service to ensure that the common parts of our buildings and developments are maintained to the highest possible standard. Each year we provide owners with a Written Statement of Services, which sets out the terms and service delivery standards of the arrangement in place between us and includes a statement of account.

- Stair and courtyard lighting
- External painting
- Replacement floor coverings
- Buildings insurance
We comply with the Property Factors Code of Conduct and aim to provide a first-class service for all of our customers, but recognise that we don’t always get it right. Customers can make a complaint about our Factoring Service using our Complaints Handling Procedures. If an owner is dissatisfied with the outcome of their complaint and believe we have failed to carry out our factoring duties, they are entitled to contact the Housing and Property Chamber, First-Tier Tribunal for Scotland.
