Scottish Housing Day 2026: Healthy Homes, Healthy Futures

Scottish Housing Day took place on 16 September 2026, and this year’s theme was ‘Healthy Homes, Healthy Futures’, which aligns perfectly with our vision of providing Healthy Happy Homes.

For us, a healthy home is about much more than bricks and mortar.  While having a safe, warm and well-maintained property is essential, we also recognise the importance of supporting our tenants' wellbeing, financial security and future plans.

We offer a range of services designed to help tenants make the most of their home and their income. Two members of our team provide specialist support:

Andrew Collinge
Money & Home Energy Adviser

James McCallum-Browne
Housing & Community Link Worker

Both are available to offer advice and practical support when needed.

It's important to remember that support isn't only available during times of crisis. You don't need to be experiencing financial difficulties to request a Money Advice appointment, and you don't have to be struggling with energy bills before seeking Home Energy Advice. If you'd like to check that you're making the most of your income, benefits or energy usage, simply log in to My Home and complete the quick and easy referral form, or speak to your Housing Officer and request a call or home visit from Andrew.

We also carry out regular Healthy Happy Homes visits. These visits give us the opportunity to meet tenants face-to-face, particularly those we may have had little recent contact with, and provide a chance to discuss any questions, concerns or future housing plans.

For example, a tenant living in a larger family home who is considering downsizing ahead of retirement may benefit from advice on registering with These Homes or advertising their property through East Lothian X-Changes. By having these conversations early, we can help tenants plan ahead and explore the options available to them.

If you're contacted about arranging a Healthy Happy Homes visit, we encourage you to take up the opportunity. It's a chance to discuss your home, ask questions and find out more about the support available. Of course, you don't need to wait for an invitation. You're always welcome to contact us to arrange a meeting with your Housing Officer at a time that suits you.

Together, we can help ensure that every tenant enjoys a Healthy Happy Home, now and for the future.
