2022 Rent Increase - Have Your Say
Last year, the majority of our tenants told us they preferred the 3 Year Rent Deal, meaning this year (Year 2), would have seen an inflation-only rent increase. The inflation figure we use each year is the November RPI, the last figure published before we consult with tenants in January. The November RPI is released in mid-December each year, and in 2021, it was 7.1%.
Although an inflation-only increase had already been agreed in principle, and generally speaking our costs will still go up in line with inflation, a 7.1% increase felt too high. Captain Discount got to work looking at alternatives – and so, instead of an inflation-only increase, we’re consulting on RPI minus 2%, a 5.1% increase.
What's even better news, is that for tenants not getting maximum Rent Discounts, their rent could actually still go down, by up to 0.65%, whilst many other tenants could get much lower increases simply by upgrading to the next Rent Discount level in our Key Tenant Scheme.
Remember, we are the only Housing Association in the UK offering monthly cash Rent Discounts, so use your unique opportunity to claim yours today!
