Energy Bills Set to Fall from April
18 Mar 2026

From 1 April 2026, the Energy Price Cap will drop by about 7%, lowering the maximum a typical household can be charged on default tariffs from £1,758 to around £1,641 per year—roughly £10 a month in savings.
If you’re on a standard or variable tariff, you should see the lower charges automatically—no action is needed by you.
Even with this reduction, energy costs remain higher than they were before 2021. The Cap is reviewed regularly, with the next update due by late May 2026, so bills could change again depending on the market and government policy.
