Frequently Asked Questions

Does the external painting cost me anything?

No.  The cost to carry out external painterwork is covered by the rent you pay.

What do I need to do before the painterwork starts?

We would ask that you avoid putting out your washing whilst the painter is working. If you have fixed any additional signs, hanging baskets, garden furniture etc in the areas that are being painted we would ask that you remove these to allow access for the painter.  If you have large plants adjacent to fencing, please cut or tie them back to provide access for the painters.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of your household in particular pets whilst these works are being carried out.

Do I need to prune back my plants in the common garden?

There should be no plants belonging to you in the common garden. If there are, please remove them to allow the painters a safe working area when painting fencing.  We require access to paint all of the fencing and if you have climbing plants on fencing, we will require you to move them to carry out painting of fencing.  If we have to do this work, the costs of such may be chargeable to you.

Am I likely to get paint on my plants?

Our painters will try their best not to get any paint on plants.  If plants are close to the fence and require to be moved out of the way by hand in order to access the fence, some plants may get paint on the leaves. It is therefore best that you tie back or move any plants that are very closes to the fence.

Do I need to move my shed or greenhouse?

No, we will try to work around existing sheds and greenhouses. We may be unable to paint some fencing behind these outbuildings.

Will there be scaffold, MEWPs (cherry pickers) or ladders in my development?

Yes, we will use a variety of access equipment to complete the painterwork. These will be cordoned off for safe working, and we would ask that you take care around the access equipment during the painterwork.

What is the Painters Responsibility?

The painters have clear Health and Safety procedures.  They will be responsible for putting down dust sheets to protect areas and also responsible for cleaning up after themselves.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with the painterwork?

Please contact R3 on 0300 999 247 while work is being carried out.  Our staff will also be available to assist you with any queries.   If you have any queries you can contact the Property Officer, Andro Sneddon, through your My Home account, by emailing him at enquiries@elha.com or phoning 01620 825032.

What colour choice is available?

There are no choices of colour on this occasion.  All external doors will be painted the original blue colour, and all fencing will be painted brown, similar to the existing colour.

What is the Contractor’s Responsibility?

R3 will be responsible for putting down dust sheets to protect all the areas they are working in and has a responsibility to clean up after themselves.

What is the Tenant’s Responsibility?

It is your responsibility to remove all personal belongings from the perimeter of your home in preparation for the R3 operatives starting work.   You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of your household (children/pets) whilst the work is being carried out.
